Sadly, Squidoo seems to be saturated at present. Several years have passed and now income from my lenses is much greater than from hubs. My primary reason for using both sites was backlinking, but as the number of lenses grew, the idea of generating income seemed worthwhile. I tried both tools a few years back when there were plenty of topics that had not been taken.Īt the time, I strongly favored Squidoo and focused my efforts there. So my guess is that if you use the site correctly, Squidoo should have more potential for natural traffic right now.

The main difference is that HubPages was slaughtered by the Panda updates and is still trying to recover, whereas Squidoo got its Google slap years ago and was less badly hit this time. I haven't really looked into it so I can't give you details. I now understand that for a lens to be successful, you have to do some internal promotion on Squidoo first. So I wrote a few lenses, then left them to mature - and they disappeared out of sight, and so I abandoned Squidoo. If I'm going to have to spend time promoting, I may as well use my own website, because I can promote that more efficiently than promoting multiple individual articles.

That's the only advantage of rev-sharing sites in my opinion - the fact that you get traffic just by being part of a bigger site. I tried Squidoo once, ages ago, and was not impressed - but I think I misunderstood the model.īased on my HubPages experience, I expected my Squidoo lens to get some traffic without much promotion.
